Tea Off - The Scope

Diana Daly whistles for local business news.

Kelly Jones, God love ‘er, former manager of the local bookstore Bennington Gate, is flying out on her own and opening St. John’s first international tea Shop!

Opening this May, Britannia Teas and Gifts is located in a prime location on Water Street where Contemporary Florists used to be. Kelly will be carrying a large selection of high quality loose teas from around the world ranging from Oolong, Darjeeling, Gunpowder, Rooibos, Green teas, various herbal, flavoured black teas and others. She says if there’s is a specific kind that you just can’t find anywhere, the staff will find it and order it in for you.

Kelly is no stranger to tea. She started drinking 7 cups a day with her Nan in Britannia—where she got the name—on Random Island as a child, and has since visited tea rooms in Singapore, England, Scotland and Vancouver.

Britannia Teas and gifts will carry all sorts of tea paraphernalia too like pots, infusers, brewers, cups, towels and cookies.

Best of luck to her!
